Recent Research on Men's Groups:

Over the past two-years Impotence Australia has researched in the area of men's health groups. One study called the Men's Doctors Project 2002 found that contrary to popular belief men are wanting to attend groups to discuss sexual functioning. A more recent study has shown that there are few outlets for men to access information about sexual health. Health professionals express that they perceive a need for men's groups, as well as staff training. If you have any comments on men's groups please email us: here

▪ A recent survey found that 39% of men have problems with erections.*

▪ Impotence affects one in 10 men over the age 21 and can lead to embarrassment and frustration for sufferers.

▪ Contributing factors to impotence may be; anxiety or depression, medications such as anti-depressants, diuretics, beta-blockers or other drugs.

▪ Some medical conditions that may be associated with impotence are; heart disease or circulatory problems, diabetes, prostate problems.

▪ The vast majority of impotence is treatable.

▪ 12% of men indicated that impotence had contributed or caused a marital break up, 17% considered ending a relationship because of impotence.

▪ to fund research into the causes and treatment of impotence

▪ to provide regular Impotence Australia Newsletters for sufferers and their partners

▪ to provide up-to-date medical information on impotence
